[edit] Pre-con Technology

Web Server

Static pages for basic info with link to join EmailLists big list and Read Only access to the Wiki Web.
Wiki Web open to all members to read and edit. Ability to upload images (e.g. pictures of themselves) is desirable.
Wiki readable by everyone but only editable by Committee for offical announcements (e.g. disclaimers, convention rules etc)
Forums. Some style of forum or conferencing is needed to aid communication between members. It is vital that members can create their own forums to discuss anything they want. Ideally Cix style closed conferences could be created so that (for example) the people organising a specific programme item can discuss things (such as quiz questions) without giving things away to the general membership.

EmailLists Server

Give members their own Teledu email address that forwards to their normal account???

[edit] Volunteers

Please post something to the GopherIT community on LiveJournal to ask for help with the pre con tech. I am a big fan of Drupal and could knock up most of it in an evening (see http://www.sfpod.net as an example).

Also see http://www.owal.co.uk/orbital/ which is an example convention site

[edit] An Idea

Would an IRC channel be a sensible idea for Teledu members? Perhaps IRC could be exploited in terms of private chats needed between people organising specific things - this is just a thought. Any such channel can easily be password protected etc with a little know how. How many people from YotT are fluent in IRC? John Coxon
