[edit] PA
PA will be needed in the Wigston 1 (Main) room. Some consideration is required about PA in Knighton room. Though only big enough for 40 or so theatre stlye, it is the main room for panels etc.
[edit] Computers & Networks
The Fannish Living Room will need a PC that can connect to the internet via the Hotel's wireless network. Ideally a printer as well.
[edit] Available
The following Teledudes are bringing laptops that can be borrowed for use in programme items:
- Alex Holden will bring his Mac iBook. It has SVGA, composite video, and 3.5mm audio out. Installed software includes DVD Player, Quicktime Player, iTunes, Keynote (similar to Powerpoint), and iPhoto.
- Flick will also have her iBook, with all the usual stuff, but only useful if one can touch type as it has no letters on the keycaps. Dr Plokta will have his Powerbook, and I'm sure he'll let people use it as long as he can hover nearby and keep a watchful eye on it. We can also bring the old AlBook, if there's likely to be a use for it (eg, Kensington lock to a table int he Fannish living room.
- Abi will have her laptop with her. She's really precious about it, however, so if you need it you'll have to ask nicely and buy her gin. She doesn't mind lending it out if the others are unavailable, though.
[edit] Required
The following programme items require laptops:
- Sunday 12 Noon. End Of Life On Mars needs something that can play DVD clips.
[edit] WiFi
The Hotel is providing ten 24 hour passes per day to the convention. These will work in the function space but possibly not the bedrooms.
Apart from the ones needed specifically by the con, spare passes (for the entire weekend) will be given to people who are using their laptop or lending their laptop for us in the programme. This is a thank you from the con for providing superfluous technology. If this applies, please add your name to the list below. Any left over will be handed out on a first come, first served basis via the Wiki_on_the_Wall.
[edit] Reserved
- 1 for the Fannish Living Room PC
- 1 for the Newsletter PC
- 1 (possibly 2) to be shared via a wireless hub for everyone to access.
- Who's bringing the tech for this? Would probably be a good use for the old TiBook and an Airport (this is what we did at Worldcon, but with an old iBook instead), if you want us to bring them? Flick 17:37, 28 June 2007 (BST)
- 1 for Alex Holden who is making his laptop available for programming.
