Science fiction is refered to as the fiction of ideas, but science fiction films often dump the ideas in favour of the special effects and big explosions.

The idea of this panel is to look at sf films where ideas count more than budget. The rough idea I have at the moment is that three or four people select a film, talk about it for 5 minutes, showing relevant clips. Others of panel can also contribute. The audience can also give their nominations for interesting low key sf films.

There will be a prize for anyone who can explain the plot of Primer without recourse to diagrams, or any other visual aids.

The sort of films I'm thinking of are things like Primer, 2046, Gattaca, La Jette (erm some others that I've forgotten).

Would need some sort of projector and laptop that plays dvds.

Age range - might be 15 plus depending on film clips used (or up to parental discrection).
