Fencing

Day: Saturday
Time: 3pm
Duration: 1.5 Hours
Location: Wigston
Named Organiser: Lisa Lagergren
Come along and try your hand at the modern sport of fencing.
In this session you and a sparring partner will recieve a short lesson on the basics of foil fencing, then get to fence a bout with your new skills using fencing foils. If your partner proves to be annoyingly good with the foil, you'll have a chance for revenge with foam sabres at the end.
Each session lasts for about 5 minutes (maybe longer if there aren't too many people).
You must be taller than the weapon you are about to hold in order to participate. (Very small fencers may still learn with foam foils).
People can drop by for a go whenever they're free during the timeslot, no need to get in line at 3pm on the dot. However, it's likely that this will be very popular, so we may have some sort of system with raffle tickets for anyone who wants to try it. Try to wear sensible shoes.
Things Needed
Fencing equipment - Provided by Lisa
Coaching insurance - Provided by Lisa (paperwork in progress)
Foam weapons - also provided by Lisa
The actually fencing will be limited to two people at a time, so other seasoned fencers at the con should feel free to come along and regale the uninitated with their tales of fencing prowess. Or answer questions, that would be good too.
