Awards and Thank Yous

From YearOfTheTeledu

Jump to: navigation, search

By its nature Teledu would not have been possible without everyone's help but some people stood out as true Teledus.

[edit] We would like to thank...

During Year of the Teledu there was a box in the Fannish Living Room with little forms to fill in if anyone wanted to thank anyone for anything. These were read out at the Closing Ceremony, and certificates awarded. In reverse alphabetical order:

Thanks to Tobes for the world's first scratch and sniff TAFF report

Thanks to Tara for the loan of a stocking

Thanks to Simon for looking fab as a super hero

Thanks to Peter Harrow for making and donating a fab Teledu statuette

Thanks to Noel for driving for hours and hours, doing the tech, putting up with a bossy cow about tech for the cabaret and managing to stay awake (most of the time)

Thanks to Mike Scott for transporting boxes

Thanks to Lisa for the badge making workshop

Thanks to Liam for his amusing text messages detailing the progress of his journey here

Thanks to Kay Hancox for giving such a splendid talk on "Girls Own" comics

Thanks to Jonathan Cain for not screaming too much

Thanks to Jane for Mule Train

Thanks to James Bacon for Skumbag College dress sense and generally being a top bloke

Thanks to Heidi for biscuits

Hazel for having an exploding washing machine

Thanks to The Garklet for not vomiting on anyone

Thanks to Flick for letting people play with craft stuff, calming certain people down and the loan of stockings

Thanks to DougS for running lots of items

Thanks to Dop for teaching me things about something I knew about

Thanks to Clara for wearing that dress and tights

Thanks to Claire for sorting out the LFF auction

Thanks to Ben for being great in the sack

Thanks to Ang for showing people how to be a Brownie again

Thanks to Anders for the fabulous gastronomic experience and pickling Abba like gherkins in a jar

Thanks to Abi for having nice frocks and coping with the Wiki (especially the grisly table syntax)

Other thanks were read out but didn't receive certificates:

Thanks to ABBA for the music

Thanks to DAW books for buying my novel Living With Ghosts (from Kari, showing off)

Thanks to God for smiting the southerners with floods in retribution for their lack of interest in the Yorkshire floods

Thanks to way too many people to actually list them all, for an amazing con, the first one in the UK in which I started to feel at home. And especially to the people that came to my programme items, and to the members of the wonderful "non" committee. You all rock in a very teleduish way - Assaf

Thanks to everyone who bought me gin for buying me gin

Thanks to everyone who bid in the auction, played the Tombola of Tat and contributed to the GUFF report collection for raising £361.32 in aid of the League of Fan Funds. And thank you for taking all the tat off our hands!

Thanks to donators of tat to the Fannish Living Room for tat

Thanks to the weather for largely avoiding the East Midlands

Thanks to James Bacon for pissing off and leaving me with a room to myself

Thanks to the fencers for reminding me

Thanks to whoever took scissors to Flick's trousers

Thanks to everyone for joining in

As Officers we were all very touched by the number of thankyou slips that were filled in thanking us for our work. We also received our own personal certificates:

Thanks to Meike for paying expenses

Thanks to Chris for catalysing a wiki-con and having fab hair

Thanks to Jess for being very bendy and teaching people to knit

And finally:

NO thanks to Maplins for supplying lots of sub-standard equipment - TOSSERS!

(That last one had a certificate printed, which we ripped up on stage)

And I'd personally like to thank the very wonderful flickgc for designing and printing the certificates, making lists and generally being reliable and stopping me wibbling about the whole Thanks thing.

[edit] Prizes

No Closing Ceremony would be complete without prizes being awarded, and ours was no exception. Thanks should first go to bohemiancoast who donated two boxes full of old trophies she had been awarded at school. If you received one of the ghastly plastic-and-marble dust-covered monstrosities, you know who to blame. And you also know why you appear to have won the Third Year Algebra prize or similar when you thought you'd won the Pub Quiz.

Make A Teledu - adelheid for Boris

Stitch 'n' Bitch - Sha for best finished product - the_mendicant for most comprehensively popped cherry

Artist Trading Cards - hawkida for her fabulous first ATC

The Race To Orbit: - Astronaut of Red Team - munchkinstein - Pilot (final flight) of Blue Team - Elvis - booby prize to the Mission Controller of Green Team who kicked a radioactive canister

Pub Quiz - First prize to the Teledu Drinkers and Teledu Snorkelers - (loser but also) highest score per team member to the Cheese Roll Call

Make A Chocolate Alien, which was judged by Maggie and Sally from the hotel: - Most Classic - Elvis for his robot and disembowelled jelly babies - Most appropriate - whotheheckami and Alex for the Teledus - Best In Show and Most Alien - Hillary for the Mean Green Mother From Outer Space

Sports Day - suaveswede - Ben - Sean - Alison Taylor

The Hole in the Wall Game - Simon

Lost Room Treasure Hunt - Peter Harrow

Hall Costume - Captain Jack (alias tlanti)

Fannish Pride - drplokta for the Most Badges - Hazel for the Oldest T-shirt

Scavenger Hunt - Alison Taylor

Paper Doll Masquerade - Four prizes were given out, though I'm afraid I didn't make a note of to whom so if someone can let me know I'll amend this bit. However, I do know who the grand prize was given to... - Best In Show - bohemiancoast, who therefore won back her own much-detested enormous trophy. We do hope it's on display in a prominent place!
